WASHINGTON (CNN) -- The CIA has sent a report to the U.S. Justice Department indicating classified information may have been leaked to The Washington Post for its recent story about secret prisons run by the spy agency, according to U.S. officials.

Why don't we just change the name already? The few, the proud, the incompetent. The political dirt bags. The CYA.

You know, the most common snark in my ocean's water is: "proof of a parallel universe." Prolly used it a dozen times in the last month. You know what? There really is one. No sh*t.

In this instance, I don't mean it my usual trite fashion. Just that the divide is so clear, so wide. So unimpassable. I haven't even started going through the comments thread. But my first impression is disbelief ..... I mean, I thought the WaPO money quote included "current intelligence officials." Looking over part of the link's thread. Seems like reality ignored. Entire.

A parallel universe.

According to REUTERS/ABC, TRENT LOTT said the leaker was a GOP SENATOR! (Or someone on his staff) [More HERE.].

ANY GUESSES? Could it be a certain Senator who wants to pass an inane anti-torture amendment/bill with his name on it? There IS a connection between the common perceptions about torture and about "Black Prisons" - and it is a fact that the Veep has specifically lobbied Congressman NOT to pass the McCain amendment UNLESS it EXEMPTS THE CIA. McCain might have believed that LEAKING THE SECRET could've helped advance his bill. AFTER ALL, THE AMENDMENT'S/BILL'S passage was CO-INCIDENTAL WIT THE LEAK.

If it wasn't McCain - or someone in his office, it might have been an ally of his - on EITHER aisle. Senator DICK "Gitmo = Gulag" Durbin, perhaps. He's my bet if it turns out to be a Donk.

SO WHODUNNIT? Leave your guess in the comments.
