Orange plastic, replica nazi helmets, $6. "Go, Netherlands Go," World Cup soccer.

A Dutch company is selling replica Nazi helmets bearing pro-Dutch slogans in an early attempt to cash in on German-Dutch rivalry going into this summer's World Cup in Germany. The orange plastic helmets, which cost €5 (US$6), have small Dutch flags printed on the side and bear slogans such as "Attack!" and in Dutch "Go, Netherlands Go."

Since all bedding (sheets, towels, etc.) is so expensive in Europe, company spokesman Beeg Deek, said they are still mulling production of white hoods, in advance of their match with the United States.

I think the power of the symbols have faded. As well the impact of the war. Reverence for it, going by the wayside. Around the world. So, it certainly seems possible, the purveyor of this fine sporting event souveneir, was indeed being light hearted. Of course, while engaging in stereotyping. No law against bad taste.
