German Soccer Fans: Using "Jews" as Insult

Davids Medienkritik

During a game in Germany's 2nd soccer league ..... fans ..... showed a banner with "JUDEN" inscription. The encircled "D" in "JUDEN" is a reference to the Dresden soccer team. The banner is obviously meant to be a grave insult ..... the banner was briefly shown during the live broadcast on tv.

Let me make this clear: Germany is not on the verge of becoming anti-Semitic (again) ..... On the other hand, Germany's image as organizer of the soccer world championship in 2006 could be tarnished ..... just imagine the German media's reaction to a banner insulting blacks during a football game in America.
