Kerry's barnstorming sparks talk of a run

By Brian C. Mooney, the Boston Globe, October 9, 2006

Yesterday , Senator John F. Kerry was in Iowa. Tomorrow and Wednesday, he'll be in Nevada. On Friday, he'll be in New Hampshire. After that, he'll visit 11 more states ....

With a frenetic pace of barnstorming and fund-raising (on behalf of Democratic candidates), Kerry's moves over the last several months have convinced his inner circle that he intends to launch another run for president.

.... more than a dozen longtime loyalists ... said they had no doubt that Kerry would attempt what a host of Washington doubters think unimaginable ....

``My impression is there's no way he's not going to run," said a confidant .....

Virtually all of (Kerry's 2004 campaign apparatus), nationally tested operatives and strategists have signed on in advance for 2008 (if Kerry decides it's a go).

L*rd, I was going to beg you ..... please no. I just can't stand the thought of looking at that ugly mug, the helmet hair, the looong skull.

Or listening to the marbled intonation, and the concurrent sound of escaping hot air.

Photobucket - Video and Image HostingThe prospect had me ahh .... well I was feeling a little edgy there Sir. I was beginning to panic. I didn't think my aesthetic meter could stand it.

Buck up? Yes Sir, Sorry Sir, You are right. I was being selfish. You have your hands full ...... uh huh, dealing with all those tears and cries from the left. I understand. What's that, another flood you say ..... an ocean of tears after he loses again. And Noah isn't answering his cell? Well yes Sir, I guess I should be grateful.

You're not thinking clearly about this...imagine it: Kerry, already rejected by half the country, angers half the Democrats by running and muddying the waters for any candidate who might have a real shot.

It's like...perfect. He'll do the RNC's work for them.

The opposite would be the old horse trader's addage, about selling horseflesh that's less than prime.

I.E. a horse can have the countenance of Secretariat (any other candidate), if standing beside a toothless glue factory reject (Kerry).

That Kerry did as well as he did, accepted in his mediocrity entire, by the left. In some sort of unified hail-mary/martyrdom vote.

Possibly now, any candidate who even gives off the wisp of electability, will have them swarming like a colony of army ants. Not to say they he/she/they will win. But a couple of possibles in the Dem camp, do have some political chops.

They are desperate, and combined with their normal proclivity for derangement. Kerry could early, and strongly galvanize them around whomever is less odious than he.
